Artist ( Description ):

Fabiola Jean-Louis’ series Rewriting History: A Black Ancestral Narrative is about defying expectations by introducing the black female body in a conversation from which she has been absent. Dressing her black models in Victorian gowns made of paper, Jean-Louis’ painterly photographs open up a dialogue about history and identity in relation to race, paper as currency, and fashion as a class system.
