About the Artist:

Keeping Up Appearances is a continually evolving series of large-scale site-specific works by San Diego artist Ashley V. Blalock. Vivid red crochet doilies consume the gallery space as these oversized ornamental objects challenge notions of control and domesticity. The viewer is enveloped in a delicately stunning yet uncomfortably intrusive installation of antiquated artifacts that challenge perceptions of daily life.
