The exhibiton »SPECTACULUM« by Jon Kraja presents a series of paintings created by the artist in 2024. The works depict football scenes full with contrasting colors that evoke different emotions and figuration hidden behind gestural abstraction – all accompanied by an omnipresent fire ball, while hanging in a thin thread and searching for its tipping point.

Jon Kraja projects his own imagination into these paintings. They embody the memories of the game movements and reflect the power and anxiety that characterizes the moment of shooting. But beyond that first reading of the image, the paintings mirror the precarious and volatile life of mankind, the uncertainties and complexities of a human being, constantly in search of one’s own goal.

In certain works, the abstraction produces gestural and enigmatic backgrounds, evoking a sense of mystery and introspection. Here, the goal and the ball remain suspended in the artist’s contemplative space.

As a backdrop to »SPECTACULUM«, the spectacle of football is transformed into a visual symphony of movement and memory.

Cooperative network project between Gallery70, Satellite Zone (Tirana) and EULENGASSE. The exhibition takes place in the framework of the Frankfurt Art Experience 2024.

»SPECTACULUM« is supported by UNESCO, through the »Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans« (CC4WBs) a project funded by the European Union that aims to foster dialogue in the Western Balkans by enhancing the cultural and creative sectors for increased socio-economic impact.

Artist ( Description ):

* JON KRAJA
