Presented at Roman Road, Adam Waymouth’s solo exhibition The In-Between is a playful exploration of light and line, black and white. Through his latest photographic body of work made from studying different forms, he tests the boundaries and limitations of how little one can show to open the door to infinite imaginations.
With a focus on positive and negative space, looking at ‘ma’, an ancient Japanese concept of negative space, Waymouth’s work references Shintoism and through this an understanding of his own experience of grief and death.
Artist:
Adam Waymouth (b. 1981, London) is a British artist working with painting and photography. He completed his BA at City & Guilds of London Art School in 2003. After spending 15 years working as a curator and gallery director, Waymouth did a six-month artist residency in Egypt, which inspired a new direction in his photography. Painting his studio roof white and playing with the reflection of the sunlight to light his subjects, this body of work looks at decay and the delicate alchemy of process.
