Have you been curious about alcohol inks? This Intuitive Abstract Painting with Alcohol Inks Workshop is perfect for someone who has no experience to someone who wants more experience using a variety of different surfaces and tools.
In this two hour class, you will begin by working on a blank 6″ x 6″ ceramic tile, exploring the intuitive nature of inks and the fine balance between controlling them and allowing the painting to process naturally. From there, you will apply inks to a variety of surfaces including synthetic papers and canvas, using tools such as paintbrushes, foam brushes, and hot and cool air flow to move and manipulate the inks.
The class concludes with a thorough review of how to finish your work, with a focus on colorfastness and longevity, and you will go home with several frame-worthy pieces of your own creation.
Nina Yocom is an award-winning artist from suburban Philadelphia. She sells her work at art exhibits and fairs, as well as from her website. She teaches alcohol ink workshops throughout the greater Philadelphia area.
Artist:
Nina Yocom was born and raised in suburban Philadelphia. Her earliest exposure to fine art was when her mother volunteered in public elementary schools with a program called “Art Goes to School.” This innovative program exposed her to a variety of artists and their work. Her father, an award-winning photographer, also influenced her own lens. This background, along with a liberal arts education, cultivated an appreciation for how art is a conduit of connection. As a newer artist in her mid-50s, Nina feels that she is making a radical re-discovery of self, enhanced by the act of creating. She is greatly influenced by artists such as Marc Chagall, Faith Ringgold and Mary Abbott. She currently resides in West Chester, PA with her husband and senior rescue dog Bella.
