We’ll Be Happier Tomorrow: Solo Exhibition of Works by Lori Larusso

September 12-October 12, 2013

Opening Reception: September 12, 6:30-8:30pm

Artist Talk: September 14, 4-6pm, RSVP to info@portercontemporary.com

New York, NY. Porter Contemporary presents We’ll Be Happier Tomorrow, a solo exhibition of new paintings by Lori Larusso opening with an artist reception on September 12, 2013 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.

The idea of happiness being tied to external consequences is the hallmark of Larusso’s We’ll Be Happier Tomorrow launching her first solo exhibition at Porter Contemporary. Through shaped acrylic panels Larusso embarks on the American Dream revealing symbolically and metaphorically the twist to having such an unrealistic outlook.

Abstracted mundane interior and exterior scenes make up the basis of Larusso’s shaped acrylic panels, each one balancing painterly and sculptural effects. Dissections of reality and unreality sometimes are combined in multiple panels interacting with a whole idea (Preyer (2013), acrylic on two shaped panels, 84” x 60”). By including only the necessary information needed to complete the idea and composition, aspects of a specific situation or environment are isolated and brought to the forefront through Larusso’s unique presentation (Development (2013), acrylic on shaped panel, 35” x 55”).

Larusso’s We’ll Be Happier Tomorrow will be on view at Porter Contemporary through October 12, 2013.
