With this new body of work, the painter Sidnea D’Amico explores the fluid possibilities that arise from the layering of memories. She applies, mixes, covers, peels, writes over, and etches into the canvas to extract imperfect visual poetics – an unfolding – that become vertical conversations about life, love, and impermanence.

Sidnea D'Amico's work is inspired by urban elements such as: loose wires, words, graffiti, decayed walls, colors and shapes. Any mark left on street walls reflects an energy of a person; a moment in time. In her studio she plays with these elements using energy and vulnerability to express those marks and to transmute ideas into whimsical paintings. For her collages she often uses posters I have removed out of the streets of her home city of San Francisco as well as the cities around the world she visits.
