Most of us feel utterly powerless in the face of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. But, while buying a painting, a print, or NFT may not be at the forefront of your mind right now, some artists, auction houses, galleries, and online platforms are selling art, via various methods, to help the aid effort in Ukraine.

Allan Linder's Manifest No War – This is a series of mixed media collage artwork using woven fabric patterns historic to Ukraine, currency, and clippings from newspapers along with cast plastic sculptures created as a tribute to the people of Ukraine.

This work will be exhibited at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center (ROCA) during the 6 x 6 2022 exhibition located at 137 East Avenue Rochester, NY from June 4th Opening reception from 4-10 pm through July 17, 2022.

Half of the funds collected for Allan Linder's work will be donated to the association Vostok SOS, which supports the Ukrainian people by providing food, medical help, and tailored trauma support to victims of military aggression.

Artist ( Description ):

Allan Linder is an award-winning New York artist known for his dynamic range and style across multiple mediums throughout the art world, including painting, comic books, animation, television, and character design.

Allan Linder (1966, California, United States) makes paintings, drawings, digital work, mixed media artworks, sculptures, and much more. Linder absorbs the tradition of making art into daily practice with a conceptual approach. This personal follow-up and revival of a tradition are important as an act of meditation.

His collected, altered, and own paintings are being confronted as aesthetically resilient, thematically interrelated material for memory and projection. The possible seems true and the truth exists, but it has many faces, as Hanna Arendt cites Franz Kafka. By contesting the division between the realm of memory and the realm of experience, he tries to approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way, likes to involve the viewer in a sometimes physical way, and believes in the idea of function following form in a work.

His works directly respond to the surrounding environment and the artist uses everyday experiences as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context. By applying abstraction, he creates intense personal moments masterfully created using rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles.

His works don't always reference recognizable forms. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted.
