International Juried Photography Call for Entry Fall 2013

 

URBAN LANDSCAPES

 

NEW YORK CENTER FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTS

JUROR:  Charles Traub

DEADLINE:  June 16, 2013

 

The New York Center for Photographic Arts (NYC4PA) invites photographers world-wide to submit images using any photographic process (print, image transfer, emulsion transfer, encaustic, black and white, color etc.). Winners will receive over $2,500 in cash awards and be featured on the NYC4PA Online Gallery. The Grand Prize winning image being posted on the NYC4PA home page.

 

We are very excited that winners, juror’s selections and honorable mentions will have the opportunity to participate in a cutting edge gallery show at the SOHO GALLERY FOR DIGITAL ART.  This new gallery features 16 40” screens to show off your images in the best light. One screen will be dedicated to the Grand Prize winning image. For the other winners, their images will be displayed on a rotating basis on the additional screens.

 

Winners and juror’s selections will be invited to send matted prints to be displayed in racks and be available for sale.  Display prints are limited to 20 inches on the longest side, matted.

 

In addition, an exhibition catalog of the group show will be available.

 

URBAN LANDSCAPESThe cities we live in, the cities we visit. They share so many characteristics yet each has its own unique identity. Whether it is the architecture, the street scenes, the people or parks, the landscapes that mark a city can be beautiful, emotionally stirring, dramatic or whatever it is that you see.  Send us your interpretation of what an Urban Landscape means to you.

 

EXHIBITION AND AWARDS:
Grand Prize:
One photographer will receive $750.  The image will be part of the New York gallery show, the NYC4PA Online Gallery and the exhibition catalog. It will be featured on the home page of NYC4PA website.

                                                       

·       First Prizes: 3 photographers will receive $250. Their images will be exhibited in the New York Gallery show, the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the exhibition catalog. 

·       Second Prizes: 3 photographers will receive $200. Their images will be exhibited in the New York Gallery show, the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the exhibition catalog. 

·       Third Prizes: 3 photographers will receive $150. Their images will be exhibited in the New York Gallery show, the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the exhibition catalog.  

·       Jurors’ Selections: 20 additional images will be included in the New York Gallery show, the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the exhibition catalog.

·       Honorable Mention: 20 additional images will each be exhibited in the New York Gallery show,  receive a certificate of honorable mention and be listed in online gallery and the exhibition catalog.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

This Call for Entries is open worldwide to both amateur and professional photographers.  NYC4PA invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate. Experimental and mixed techniques are welcome. Only 2-D work is eligible.

 

ENTRY FEE:

The entry fee is $35 for the first three images. Additional images may be submitted for $10 each. There is no limit to the number of images submitted. 

 

JUROR: Charles Traub

 

Charles H. Traub is Chair of the MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He holds an MS from the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology and a BA from the University of Illinois.

 

A founding chairperson of the Photography Department at Columbia College in Chicago, he also organized the development of its prestigious museum, the Museum of Contemporary Photography. Formerly the director of the prestigious Light Gallery of New York, he is now President of the Aaron Siskind Foundation for support of creative photography. He is one of the co-founders of here is new york: a democracy of photographs, which received the Brendan Gill Award of the Municipal Arts Society, Cornell Capa Infinity Award, and a Distinguished Service Award from the Children’s Aid Society of New York.

 

He is currently represented by Gitterman Gallery in New York, and his   forthcoming books, Objects of My Creation, and Still Life in America, are due out in 2012.

All entrants to NYC4PA Open Calls for Entry, by virtue of their submission, are attesting that the images submitted are their own work and there has been no copyright infringement.  NYC4PA will not be held liable for any infringement of rights that might surface during the jurying or displaying of any image. 

 

By submitting you grant NYC4PA the right to use your image(s) for promotion and advertisement of NYC4PA.

 

Images selected by jurors for Prizes, Juror's Selection or Honorable Mention in a previous NYC4PA international call for entry are not eligible. Images previously submitted but not selected may be resubmitted as often as you wish.

 

 

 

AWARDS:

Should your award notification or prize be returned as undeliverable, NYC4PA will not resend the notice (whether by the same or another method,) research your address nor make any further attempts at delivery, and your submission will be deemed ineligible. Please be careful when entering all your contact information.

 

NYC4PA would prefer to remit cash awards through a PayPal transfer. If you do not have a PayPal account to which we can remit your award, please contact us for alternate arrangements.

 

MAILING LISTS:

As a submitter NYC4PA will include you in future mailings and announcements. If you would prefer NOT to be on our mailing list please log onto http://www.nyc4pa.com/#!contact and ask to be removed.

 

NON U.S. APPLICANTS:

Our entry software has an address field for the state you live in.  This applies to the US and several other countries - if you do not have “state” as part of your address simply leave that field blank - it is not mandatory.
