Agora Gallery is pleased to announce A Step Beyond Ordinary, a group exhibition of paintings and photographs that challenge and transcend our habitual perception of reality. The way we see the world is hardly objective. This is because we observe our environment not only with our eyes, but the full spectrum of our sensorial awareness and intuitive faculties. The artists featured in this exhibition push the boundaries of tangible cognition. If reality as it is does not suit their canons of beauty, safety, or morality, they reinvent it.

As such, utopian visions take shape, voluptuous biomorphic forms that envelop the viewer like a comforting cocoon. Dreamscapes emerge from the deepest subconscious, offering spectacular hallucinations of eerie dolls, angel statues, and discarded furniture amidst flashes of blazing light. Even if subjects are faithfully depicted, an alternate narrative develops as the artist intentionally selects bits of reality and infuses them with greater visual potency. From the moment we step into the space, we are swept away into a sensorial adventure that titillates our taste buds, pores, eyes, and ears; but most importantly, invites us to let go of the familiar and embrace the unknown.
