Agora Gallery presents Illumination: An Exhibition of Fine Art Photography, a group show comprising works by photographers who all explore the limits of what can be captured by the camera’s lens.

Illumination mingles a documentarian eye with photographs that are fanciful and abstract, showcasing through the works of several artists the full range of techniques and styles available to the creative photographer today.

Deftly moving from accentuating the subject-matter of a photograph, to highlighting the manner in which an artist decides to present this subject-matter for display, every aspect of the process underlying the creation of a photo becomes a subject for investigation, experiment.

Illumination reveals the history of a medium constantly in flux—one whose techniques are constantly vying with painting, film, and digital media, yet which still manages to hold its own as a representational medium par excellence. As each artist elegantly frames the essence of what he or she pictures, Illumination shows how photography can offer glimpse of luminous clarity between fantasy and reality.

The Illumination: An Exhibition of Fine Art Photography begins October 20, 2017 and runs through November 9, 2017 with an opening reception on October 26 from 6-8 pm. Entrance is free.
