Animalia, a group art show that explores the adamantine bonds between humans and their non-human companions, opens with a reception at EV Gallery, 621 E. 11th St., May 5 from 6-9 PM. The exhibit showcases work by established and emerging artists and runs through May 8. Artists and animals have a long and lovesome past, with some of history's greatest artist sharing their lives with pets of every stripe. Among them: Picasso, Henri Matisse, David Hockney, Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt, Georgia O'Keeffe and Andy Warhol.
