CONTINUUM

JoAnne Artman Gallery is delighted to announce Continuum, a captivating solo exhibition featuring new and selected works by renowned Colombian-American artist America Martin. Through her bold, expressive style and mastery of form, Martin invites viewers into an ever-evolving exploration of identity, culture, and the human experience.

Continuum celebrates the vibrant spectrum of Martin’s artistry, where past and present converge in a stunning visual narrative. Known for her dynamic compositions and signature use of line and color, Martin seamlessly weaves together influences from modernism, indigenous art forms, and personal storytelling. Her figures, both monumental and intimate, embody strength, vitality, and connection, offering a timeless meditation on humanity’s shared journey.

With this new body of work, Martin pushes the boundaries of scale, texture, and medium, presenting an expansive vision of her creative evolution. Selected highlights from her celebrated earlier series are also featured, creating a dialogue between her artistic roots and her latest innovations.

America Martin’s work is both deeply personal and universally resonant. With Continuum, she explores transformation as a constant, weaving together where we’ve come from, where we stand, and the limitless possibilities ahead.

Artist ( Description ):

America Martin is a Colombian-American fine artist based in Los Angeles. She is a traveler between mediums, insouciant in the conquest of new terrain. Martin’s favorite landscape is that of the human form, her work is distinguished by a command of line and color, making playful reference to both classic and indigenous art forms. About her work, Martin says, “The artist cannot be idle. It is only duty, love and discipline that make art. Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working. The artist is gluttonous, constantly devouring life in order to translate all that she sees, smells, lives or breathes into her own language. Why, and for what? For the blistering personal joy that comes when one is doing something of and about truth. There is no choosing this life. An artist paints because she must.”
