Experience art and nature in a new light, through the eyes of a fantastic and seasoned painter, LeeAnn Brook. These large format contemporary landscapes reinterpret the environment and will be sure to amaze artists and art lovers alike. The John Natsoulas Gallery is thrilled to be hosting the newest exhibition of LeeAnn Brook’s striking paintings.

As a painter and designer for over 40 years, LeeAnn has exhibited in shows and galleries throughout the country, winning over 20 awards in juried shows in just three years. At the early age of 23, she was accepted into the prestigious Connecticut Society of Women Painters, and is a four-time winner in the nationally recognized Wild & Scenic Film Festival’s juried art competition. Taught by the trompe l’oeil painting master, Ken Davies, her work has a traditional foundation that these landscapes investigate and transcend. She is in the permanent collection at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento, CA, and U. C. Davis Medical Center and Sutter Health in Roseville, CA. She also was awarded the Dr. Leland and Sally Lewis Visual Artist award from the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce in 2015.

LeeAnn has a poetic vision and it comes through in her paintings, especially her Haiku Series – abstract scenes made with acrylic and handmade papers – which the gallery will also show alongside her brilliant landscapes. “My paintings explore landscape through color and movement, juxtaposing the abstract and figurative qualities of nature. Working in large format, I use a layering of colors and textures with an awareness of light that reflects the environments of water, grasslands, mountains and forests. Depth is created with the use of subtle patterns of spatter, strokes and drips, and is then integrated into the painting as a whole, where the technique becomes secondary only to the full effect of a vibrant landscape.” - LeeAnn Brook

The opening reception will take place at the John Natsoulas Gallery on December 8th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. It will feature live music and free refreshments
