Artist Statement:

"From Root to Star is a collection of artwork that reflects my love of nature—from the ground we walk on to the stars above us. These pieces come from different times in my life and show how my connection to the natural world has grown and changed over the years.

As a child, I spent much of my time exploring the woodlands and pastures that surrounded our family farm. I remember climbing through rock structures, crossing ravines, winding through trees and wild vines and feeling a quiet connection to the world around me. That sense of wonder never went away. It led me to painting and printmaking, where I could express the textures, colors, and rhythms of the earth. I use layers of paint and printing techniques to show the slow changes in nature—like how water carves through rock or how light filters through trees.

More recently, I’ve found myself drawn to the night sky and the mysteries of space. My work has started to reach beyond the horizon, connecting the patterns I see in nature with the stars and galaxies above. To me, the earth and the sky aren’t separate—they’re part of the same story.

This show brings together older and newer work, grounded in my ongoing curiosity and love for the natural world. Whether I’m painting a forest floor or imagining a distant star, I’m always looking for that feeling of connection—between time, place, and something greater than ourselves."
