This March, The Other Art Fair presented by Saatchi Art returns to East London with an ambitious new edition that openly challenges the conventions of the contemporary art fair, reaffirming its position as a leading artist-led platform for independent creative practice.

Taking place from 5 to 8 March 2026 at The Truman Brewery, the London edition brings together over 175 independent artists alongside performances, live music and activist-led projects.

Set in the heart of East London, the Fair reflects the cultural, social and economic realities shaping contemporary art today, positioning itself not simply as a marketplace, but as an urban platform where art, community and public life intersect.

At the core of the March 2026 London edition is a strong commitment to newness, discovery and artistic independence. The Other Art Fair continues to champion breakthrough artists who are shaping contemporary culture outside of traditional systems, foregrounding self-represented practices and new creative voices entering the public sphere. With over half of the exhibiting artists showing with the Fair for the first time in London, this edition places particular emphasis on emerging talent and first encounters.

The Fair positions itself as a site of discovery, where visitors can engage with artists at pivotal moments in their careers, witnessing new ideas, materials and visual languages as they take shape. Beyond the artworks themselves, the 2026 edition expands its focus on experience, participation and accessibility. A key theme running throughout the Fair is the idea of creative takeaways, offering visitors opportunities to leave not only with artworks, but also with new skills, shared experiences and tangible memories.

From participatory workshops and interactive installations to playful encounters and live activations, the programme encourages visitors to get creative and explore contemporary art through doing, making and engaging. Accessibility remains central to the Fair’s ethos. Alongside affordable artworks and curated price-point collections, the programme includes a range of free things to do, ensuring that inspiration and cultural participation are open to all. Whether discovering a new artist, taking part in a hands-on activity or simply exploring the Fair’s immersive environments, visitors are invited to be inspired and to engage with contemporary art in ways that feel welcoming, intuitive and rewarding.

Conceived as an alternative to traditional art fair models, The Other Art Fair removes intermediaries and places artists in direct contact with a broad and international public. By doing so, it proposes new economic models for artists, foregrounding sustainability, transparency and accessibility while encouraging meaningful exchange between creators and collectors. Art is experienced here as something lived, shared and discussed, rather than distanced or exclusive. With independent artists at the core of the Fair, visitors are invited to encounter a diverse range of practices across painting, photography, mixed media and installation, while engaging directly with the people behind the work. The 2026 edition continues The Other Art Fair’s long-standing commitment to inclusivity and emerging voices, highlighting how new generations are reshaping both artistic production and the structures through which art is circulated and valued.

More than a fair, The Other Art Fair operates as a cultural ecosystem embedded within the city itself. Its London edition reflects on how contemporary culture is produced, circulated and experienced today, touching on themes such as the future of creative work, access to cultural spaces, and the role of artist-led initiatives within the social fabric of urban life.
