The charity art exhibition Our Home: Ukraine presents works by contemporary Ukrainian artists working across a variety of mediums in response to the idea of what it means to be Ukrainian during times of war and invasion.
The artworks were created in bomb shelters under constant shelling; on the route to the rescue and in unknown locations of foreign countries; in safety, but in dread and agony for loved ones. They were made, above all, with hope and courage - the courage to create, express yourself, stand up for your country, and fight in times of war. Their creations provide a heartfelt glimpse into the struggles and complexities faced by those uprooted by war. With mediums ranging from painting to multimedia installations, they share their personal journeys of adaptation, loss, and perseverance. The artists have been stripped of their homes, income, and belongings, but they continue to fight, work, and create despite their new conditions.
We aim to raise awareness among the audience about the full-scale war that is still going on in Ukraine for two years now and collect donations for the artists who became refugees due to it.
We believe that our courage and the courage of the people who support us are capable of incredible things, because “life will win over death, and the light will win over darkness”.
Join us for the opening reception on the 24th of February from 6pm at The Forge Gallery, Craft Central.
