This November 2024 Abigail Edgar returns to the gallery with her latest collection of paintings, finding wonder in the everyday.

Large scale works in charcoal once again explore her love of trees, including loose, semi-abstract studies made on Hampstead Heath and the green spaces of London; and the dramatic light of tree-lined lanes and pathways, from Oxfordshire to Japan.

Energetic brush marks and textures give an abstract feeling to acrylic paintings inspired by meadows and tangled foliage. On a different scale, a set of small, jewel-coloured panels record the changing light and seasons of the views from Edgar’s north London home.

Lastly there is a group of works named The School Run, based upon sketches made over the years as her children have grown up.

Opening times: 11th - 16th of November 11 am - 6 pm (or by appointment)

Private View 14th of Nov (RSVP abigail@carolan.plus.com)

Artist ( Description ):

Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1967, on the day the Beatles released their Sgt. Pepper album, Abigail was encouraged from an early age to pursue her passion for painting and drawing.

After taking a foundation course in illustration at college, Abigail began a career in commercial design, before the birth of her first child prompted her to change direction and to focus her attention on making art with a more personal connection.

Now based in North West London, Abigail works in a variety of media including drawing, painting and printmaking. She is a graduate from Kingston University, Central St Martin’s School of Art, Hampstead School of Art and The Royal Drawing School, and has authored several books on painting.
