Stephen Von Mason Unveils Powerful 2024 Sculpture Series at Barbagelata Contemporary Art Foundation

About

Acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Stephen Von Mason announces his 2024 sculpture series, a profound exploration of cultural integration, systemic inequity, and the pursuit of social justice. This highly anticipated exhibition at BCAF will feature works that challenge societal perceptions while celebrating resilience and identity.

Mason, whose rich artistic journey spans printmaking, painting, and sculpture, masterfully incorporates a range of materials—including metal, ceramic, wood, and resin—to create visually arresting pieces that speak to the Black experience in America. His sculptures delve into critical issues such as cultural diversity, racial anxiety, and historical erasure, offering viewers an opportunity for reflection and dialogue.

With a dynamic interplay of textures, forms, and symbolism, Mason’s art transforms his lived experiences and observations into storytelling conduits, addressing the complexities of identity and the necessity for cultural healing. Each piece is imbued with layers of meaning, encouraging audiences to confront uncomfortable truths while fostering empathy and understanding.

Stephen Von Mason’s exhibition is a call to action, urging us to consider how art can facilitate conversations around justice and equity.
