Studio 46 Barcelona opens its new season with "Surrealism Meets the Sea", the latest exhibition by British artist JJ Walker, and the first art show held in the newly renovated Port Olímpic of Barcelona.
In collaboration with Bluewave Alliance powered by ISDIN, the exhibition brings JJ Walker’s vibrant, surreal works to the sea, exploring environment, power, and the human condition with colour, imagination, and humor.
Both the opening and the exhibition will take place at Moll del Mestral, besides the new Espai Mestral in the renovated Port Olímpic, located just below the Torre Mapfre and facing the boat moorings.
JJ Walker is an English artist with an illustrious career as a multidisciplinary creator, working in graphic and avant-garde furniture design. He specializes in sculptural bronze and large oil canvases, with insightful social commentary and a touch of surrealism.
JJ Walker is an artist who constantly pushes the boundaries of proportion and conventional balance to create fresh, exciting aesthetic works combined with a serious message and a touch of humor, reflecting the sublime beauty and simultaneous absurdity of the human condition.
Currently, JJ works at the legendary private studio and gallery Studio 46 in Barcelona, joining the living legacy of this iconic space, which, under the direction of master printmaker Joan Barbarà, was a place of creation for some of the most influential artists of the 20th century, including Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, Joseph Beuys, Victor Vasarely, Eduardo Chillida, Richard Hamilton, Marc Chagall, and Louise Bourgeois.
