Tapropane is thrilled to announce its upcoming exhibition in Rome! After a successful run in London, "Dreams of Matter" will showcase a selection of works that explore the fascinating interplay between the Intimate and the Universal. We hope you'll join us.
Contemporary artists, often "outsiders" in terms of culture and nationality, are dreamers first and foremost. Their childhood was steeped in myths and epic tales, a potent source of inspiration that drives them to explore timeless symbols and archetypal materials with an almost childlike curiosity.
Their unique perspective on the world, their way of feeling and interacting with matter, allows them to uncover the hidden connections between myth and reality, between the body and beauty. They shape materials, giving form to their dreams and creating works that are like treasure chests filled with secrets, enigmas, and poetry.
Their art serves as a bridge between the past and the future, between memory and the contemporary world. While the world struggles with rational thought, these artists, with their unique sensitivity, tap into dreams that others can no longer dream, charting new courses in the exploration of the human experience.
It is they, the dreamers, who arrive first, revealing new visions and awakening our dormant senses, inviting us to dream along with them and to perceive the hidden essence of things. Their art is a silent gift, a message of beauty and mystery that touches us deep within our souls.
Artists: Sabrina Aureli (Italy), Jean-Marc Bregeault (France), Elke Bügler (Germany), Irene Di Biagio (Italy), Fadiese (France), Zimmermann Gerd (Germany), Temin Josephina (Mexico), Ulla Karttunen (Finland), Kron (Hungary), Tony Lian (Thailand), Sue Nicholas (UK), Katerina Panaretou (Cipro), Andrea Santini (Italy), Sonia Salvetti (Italy) Francesca Tesoriere (Italy).
For the opening of the event, Leonus, a Roman musician, singer-songwriter, and populariser, will present a unique and personalised version of his format featuring a speech on the theme of dreams in Latin history and epic poetry. A graduate in Archaeological Sciences from La Sapienza University, he is the founder of "TedicoRoma," a social media channel born from a passion for ancient history. Through this platform, he aims to raise awareness about the immense archaeological heritage of the capital, which is often overlooked. From the study of those ruins, visible to all but often voiceless, emerges a fresh and accessible approach to information dissemination, without age limits or any kind of socio-cultural barrier. "TedicoRoma" is also a radio format, broadcast on Radio Kaos Italy: a programme that aims to shine a spotlight on forgotten places of the past as well as emerging local music, creating a parallel where possible
