Satirical Realism, an international online solo painting art exhibition by Donelli DiMaria opens on April 15, and will continue for two months until June 15, 2024.
In his art, Donelli DiMaria tries to represent objects of beauty that each carries their own story whether the painting is figurative, still life, or landscape. This is accomplished using classical painting techniques with contemporary themes. Color theory of the impressionists and compositions reminiscent of the modernists are incorporated into his work to further enhance the drama generated by the underlying strong value pattern he uses.

Artist:
Dr. Donelli J. DiMaria has been involved in art for almost 70 years with artistic training from Lehigh University and many other professionals. After working for IBM Research as a physicist for 28 years, he became a full time artist after moving to Santa Fe, NM with his wife Diane who he has used as a model for many of his pieces. While still working at IBM, he studied classical painting and drawing based on the Reilly technique under Cesare Borgia at the Reilly League of Artists in White Plains, NY for 12 years. Donelli has participated in galleries and invited/juried art shows across the US for the past 30 years and has been in 14 museum shows over the last 12 years. His work has been published in art books, magazines, and newspapers garnering many awards along the way. Over the past 12 years, he has taught painting and drawing out of his Santa Fe studio, online, and through other venues while also running figure drawing groups. His current work bridges the contemporary and classical art markets covering a wide range of subject matter although he is mostly recognized for his figurative work.
