Chicago, IL | Matthew Rachman Gallery is pleased to announce the latest exhibition in their 2015 lineup, “Apotheosis,” featuring new work from Cleveland Dean and Spencer Hutchinson. The gallery will host an opening reception Friday, July 31 from 5 - 9 pm, at which both artists will be in attendance.
Apotheosis is an exhibition of works, created through the use of materials and techniques of medium manipulation of varied cultural significances, to create a coded language accessible to those who are familiar with these histories.
The exhibition will run July 31 - September 6.
About Cleveland Dean: The work of multi-disciplined visual artist Cleveland Dean exists to delve into the realm of self-reliance, pragmatism as well as social and psychological based issues in abstract and conceptual ways. Cleveland pulls from his own life experiences, studies of philosophy, sociology and psychology as well as acting as a voyeur of humanity. Cleveland has exhibited and is collected both nationally and internationally and has exhibited in conjunction with Leo Burnett, Puma, Red Bull, Toyota, Dick Blick and the Union League Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago among others. Cleveland lives and works in Chicago, IL.
About Spencer Hutchinson: Spencer Hutchinson is 2009 BFA Graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where he studied Sound, New Media and Painting. His work has been shown nationally and internationally in galleries, museums and cultural centers in Sacramento, Chicago, Mexico City, Ravenna Italy, Assisi Italy, Dubai United Arab Emirates and Manchester England. Spencer's work deals primarily with intersections between media, including: Painting/Sound/Sculpture, Drawing/Performance and Music/Architecture. Spencer lives and works in Chicago.
