Jeff Carter: Encounters Up Close and Personal

Jeff Carter’s paintings capture family, friends, and colleagues that have impacted his life in a deeply personal way. By depicting models close to him, he shines a poetic light on their personal stories as well as his own. His work, while inspired by the surrounding narratives in his world, aims to connect with outside viewers.  

His painting style employs loose brush strokes, emphasizing a tranquil atmosphere around his subjects. Carter is also known for creating the impression of refracted light, adding a sense of warm nostalgia to his paintings. By illuminating the lives of others, Carter’s paintings evoke the open vulnerability of his loved ones- making the encounter with his work truly close and personal.
